Pokémon Shorts! Hello guys! I'm new to the forum, have been hanging around here as a guest for a while.
Using Flash is kind of a great hobby of mine, and wanted to be more in the comic section, so I came up with this trend called "Pokémon Shorts!" where you basically post an annoying thing you found in any of the Pokémon games into an 'exaggerating' short joke.
The first volume of shorts would be under the album called "Pokémon: Yellow Adventures!".
What do you think of the idea? Is it worth continuing? Can it be changed in any way? I think after 20+ short comics it would somehow be repetitive (or I could be wrong, who wouldn't mind short jokes if they're bored out of their mind?), how can I avoid that?
Would appreciate the feedback.

Holy crap, I am so sorry I didn't see this thread until now! This stuff is great and I'd love to see more.
Also, love that you're using RBY screen shots.

Appreciate the replies! Though I thought I was lacking comics to actually get a reply so I just kept making! xD Yes, my first volume of Pokemon Shorts is "Yellow Adventures!", so it will be dominated with RBY comics! Loving the feedback and making more to post! Thanks guys

Maybe you should try not using ragefaces and general ragecomic format. It's a crutch and it's not very funny at all.

I actually don't mind the rage faces and find them hilarious. Aye, don't mind 'em either. Just so long as they're not overdone, or rather just slapped on for the hell of it.

Ragefaces aren't funny though. They are painfully overused and just generally shitty. While all humor is suggestive, it's tough to see how these stupid faces add anything that couldn't be done without them. For the first one: Have the player character throw a fit of anger. Maybe he breaks stuff, maybe a Rocket Grunt walks in and he shouts him down or something. The second: Make Red sigh. Just make it so he shows some form of annoyance. Third: Punchline is good, but make it Red. Who is this girl? Does she have anything to do with anything? No. Fourth: It's okay. Fifth: Two extra panels. A cut to show that Red was actually playing the game in his room. The second with Red happy but his window is broken. Sixth: Show the guy with tears in his eyes or something. Get rid of the face. Seventh: You can use the same punchline as the fifth or maybe show Red starting to lunge at the Jolteon or the trainer himself. Eight: Get rid of the face in the second panel. There is no need for it at all. Have Red nearly drowning in Magikarp in panel four. Or maybe cut it after panel three but have Red visably angry in the panel. Nine: It's cool. A bit dated though. Ten: This is good. I got a decent laugh out of that. My whole problem with ragefaces is that people use them instead of, you know, actually doing something original. Putting the joke together becomes easy and as a result the jokes get weaker and weaker. People still laugh at them and because I actually have no idea. But it's bad and you really shouldn't use them. Put a bit more effort into making the comics and you'll find you'll actually feel good about them. But I guarentee you, if you keep using ragefaces you'll look back on them in a year or so and go "I actually thought that was funny? [/i]What was I thinking[/i]"

But I guarentee you, if you keep using ragefaces you'll look back on them in a year or so and go "I actually thought that was funny? [/i]What was I thinking[/i]"[/quote] *CoughCough* My Little Pony FiM *CoughCough* I disagree. The reason they're so popular is that a lot of people want to make online comics and are skilled with humor and have funny stories to tell, but lack the free time [Recon joke here] and artistic skills to make them. What rage comics do is they let average Joes take an hour or two out of their lives and put their two-cents worth of humor on the Internet. Also, I think of rage faces like slap-stick. It's mostly about timing and build-up rather than whatever face is used at the end. Think of the Three Stooges. In an era where so many were doing slap-stick, they became immortal because of their characters, their timing, and the script that set it all up. Think of Road Runner cartoons. Those have no dialogue, no story, heck, 9 times out of 10, you know exactly how Wiley Coyote's plan will backfire. But you're always laughing because of the way it's done. Are all rage comics good? Of course not. But a good one gives you a great joke that you can relate to.

But there lies the problem. The bar is set so low any idiot can do one. Every idiot does do this though. Then there's a massive influx of really, really awful things. These diminish what little comedic value these faces have. For me, and most people, these faces kill of any humor to be had in the joke. I don't know how many joke images I've seen that I go "heh, that's pretty good!" then I scroll down and it's closed off with [TROLLFACE] U MAD? Then I just go "ugh" and ignore anything else that person has. Meme humor in general is pretty goddamn awful. It's all about taking something kinda funny and beating the joke so far into the ground it shoots through the Earth's crust, gets launched into space, hits Mercury, goes through Mercury, hits Venus, goes through Venus, hits the Sun, goes through it, back through Mercury and Venus, back to and through Earth to hit the joke maker in the face where it flies on to and through Mars, then thr... The joke is dead. They have lost their value and should be dropped. Anything that can be lorded as "Internet Culture" is awful and should be burned to the ground. [Also I agree 100% with you on MLP]

In fact the 10th one is when I took your advice, it turned out to be hilarious to my mates.
Although, I know quite a few people who enjoy rage comics, despite it's over usage! My thinking is the majority enjoy this 'Internet culture'.
I believe you both have valid points. Tom and Jerry, we all know Jerry's never going to be caught, yet we still enjoy the wacky adventures they go through. On the other hand, I'm not a fan of repetitiveness, as eventually it will get boring.
I'm not targeting people to sit down and go like ALRIGHT TIME TO START MA WEBCOMIC SESSION /puts a do not disturb outside my room. I'm targetting people who sit on the Internet hit, 9gag. If you're bored, you'd just skim through a couple, not to tear from joy, but just a chuckle.. Or a rofl in some cases.
Still I like the discussion. Appreciate the feedback you gave and ill try adopting when it sees fit!

Well it's good to hear you're taking it into consideration. I thought I was coming off a bit strong when I posted that. So yeah, thanks for listening.
