I don't think there's a thread about this yet. Anyway they're being held in Canada, although a guy died and apparently their torch didn't light up correctly. Canada no longer gets to be a country.
Part from that it looks pretty cool. Discuss.

The only thing I know about this is that the Irish Womens troboggon team almost lost their place in the Winter Olympics due to the Austrailian team giving out about us. Something like 'Why are they getting in? We should have that place' IDK the full details so I might be wrong about the why.

GO CANADA GO!
The only event which interests me is ice hockey, and the men's tournament does not start for a few days.
Still...
GO CANADA GO!
Canada won its first-ever gold on Canadian soil. Some male skier from Quebec took home the prize in moguls.
The negative? Long transit line-ups around Vancouver. Still, I am more excited about the Games than I was before they started.
My condolences to the dead Georgian athlete.

I saw some of the Mogul runs. Don't think I saw any Canadians go, though. But I did see someone who did a backflip tat took them halfway down the course. He got more airtime than a B-52.

Canada did well in moguls, winning a gold in men's and a silver in women's.
Men's ice hockey just started up. Canada crushed Norway 8-0.
Finland is in the tournament, too, though SJ said he did not like ice hockey. Still, the Finns are my second favourite team. If Canada loses I want Finland to win.

I heard my friends talking about how theAmericans were doing good in curling, but lost it! I can't believe I missed the one sport that I actually care about!
(I like hockey, but I really lost interest after the NHL's 2004(5?) strike.)

Canada beat Slovakia like 18-0 in womens hockey, setting a record for Canadian Womens (and maybe even for the olympics) Correction. They also crushed Switzerland 10-1 and Sweden 13-1. Olympic record? I do not think so. There was some completely ridiculous 20-something goal output by one team in the 1920s or 1930s. Gooman: sorry to hear you lost interest in hockey. It is still a great game, in my opinion better after the NHL lockout. Maybe you should check it out and maybe regain interest.

Double post for importance.
WHOO CANADA!
A dramatic 3-2 overtime win against the United States gave the nation the gold in men's ice hockey. My favourite player, Roberto Luongo, stopped 94.4% of shots. For all of you not that knowledgeable about hockey goaltending, 90% is about the average, so 94% is outstanding.
With that win, Canada sets a record for most Winter golds in one Games, with fourteen. What a proud day for the maple leaf.
