Panda, why are you so surprised such old games are discontinued? I haven't the slightest clue why you keep bringing that up.

Panda, why are you so surprised such old games are discontinued? I haven't the slightest clue why you keep bringing that up. I'm not surprised that the games are discontinued, I'm just surprised that people would use the "GBA Pal Park compatability" as an excuse to say that there's no need for a remake even though they forgot the fact that the games are discontinued. Why is everyone saying I C/P'd this and thinking I'm surprised the games are discontinued?

So to simplify: Counter-Remake argument: All the pokemons are now available throughout the versions. Ruby/Sapphire and FireRed/LeafGreen are compatible with the subsequent generations, and these reintroduced a lot of Gen II pokemon that makes HG/SS less of a necessity than FR/LG was.
Pro-Remake argument: What Panda is saying, is that R/S FR/LG no monger being manufactured and distributed means that it is once again more difficult to get those older mons, thus making the HG/SS remakes more of a necessity to keep the older mons available in currently-supported generations and currently-available tech.

I'm not just saying Gen III and Gen II mons, I'm also talking about the games as well. The whole thing is discontinued so they'll update it.

I do have to wonder, though, if they'll Always make a tradition of remaking the older games. Blue/Red remakes people cheered, and the Gold/Silver remakes people absolutely loved. I can see Ruby/Sapphire remakes as being a very likely possibility, but how much further does it go beyond that? I don't see a remake of Diamond/Pearl by Generation VI being very likely.
"Well... yeah Mags, duh"
I knooow, but we've had remakes every generation since III. I'm just mumbling incoherently.

First of all, yes I did give you a green light for this thread Panda, though I still don't see why you would need to ask permission. If it is because of spoilers, I don't care, just as long as they are tagged. I need the green light for this so no one could flame or spam at me for making this. Better safe than sorry. Nobody was going to flame or spam you for making this thread. If they did they would be breaking the rules and they would get in trouble. Simple as. About you saying you waited until spoilers were allowed, spoilers ARE allowed, as long as you keep them in spoiler tags. Why do I have to explain this so many times? I'm going to tell you this little trick I have for when I post a new thread. I ask myself a couple of questions. Will the thread will cause discussion? Does the thread break any rules? Is it a sensitive topic that might cause offence? Is it in the right section? Can I make a good enough OP for the thread? If I can answer all of these questions with a yes then I post that thread. If I don't, I don't. I don't think Gooman constitutes as "everyone" Panda. I said /I/ wasn't surprised that the games were discontinued. Gooman was the only one who asked you why you were surprised. Don't go overboard. The reason why I think you copy and pasted this from somewhere is the wording. Now I realise there have been several edits to the OP since I first seen it. So if I forget anything, please let me know. 1. The awkward wording. - To me, the way you wrote that was kinda strange. It seemed as if you were giving your opinion, in brackets after the point. This led me to think that you are C/Ping. For example, in my school paper I was given a chain letter as a news story, I was going to just say "Yeah, no. This is a chain letter" but the girl who handed it up insisted that she knew the person who wrote it. So, I sat down, copied it word for word, and wrote some little notes in brackets for me to remember when I was de-bunking it. For example, on of the lines went as "I was rushed to Galway hospital" I put (Place name, check other news sources.) 2: Bullet points. - This is a small one but your bullet points are off, your fifth bullet point has the number five rather than a bullet point. That's what made me think you were C/Ping. I can't speak for SJ though. Look, I don't care if you did C/P from another source, I do it sometimes to fill my OP's. Most of the OP from the minecraft thread is taken from one source or another. If you did, fine, just leave a link so we can look at it. If you didn't, great, more power to you. Look, what I'm trying to say is don't take peoples comments to heart. We just want to talk about the rumors/"hints". To paraphrase rule eight: Leave sources, it helps you from people disputing you.

About you saying you waited until spoilers were allowed, spoilers ARE allowed, as long as you keep them in spoiler tags. Why do I have to explain this so many times? Black and White thread. I don't think Gooman constitutes as "everyone" Panda. I said /I/ wasn't surprised that the games were discontinued. Gooman was the only one who asked you why you were surprised. Don't go overboard. When you said that you weren't surprised I thought I'd give a reason as to why I put it in the OP. The reason why I think you copy and pasted this from somewhere is the wording. For example, on of the lines went as "I was rushed to Galway hospital" I put (Place name, check other news sources.) This. Soo much. I understand that my wording is very awkward, but I try my hardest to spit out what I'm trying to say. I get desperate when people can't seem to grasp at what I'm saying though. My edits lately are because when I'm trying to say something, I look at it and think people would misinterpret it, so I change it. I know there's a preview button in the reply page too, but I don't really like to use it much unless if absolutely necessary. I wrote the brackets on my own work because if the hint wasn't likely or unconfirmed I think I may as well point that out in case anyone wants to help correct it. For example, When I went to the Driftveil Market in the game, many people there said that some of the stuff comes from a town or region, and the Herb shop says they get their herbs imported. Then I go to write it down in Notepad. While these are noteworthy, I figure out they're unlikely and unconfirmed because of the little detail I've found. 2: Bullet points. - This is a small one but your bullet points are off, your fifth bullet point has the number five rather than a bullet point. That's a little error that I'll have to fix. When I wrote it down in Notepad, I write the numbers down as to know where they start and end. Look, what I'm trying to say is don't take peoples comments to heart. We just want to talk about the rumors/"hints". To paraphrase rule eight: Leave sources, it helps you from people disputing you. Yes. and I'm sorry about my outburst too. I've been, as I said in the "Things that you hate!" thread, been not feeling well lately. As for the sources, this is a discussion thread on weather or not Gen 3 games will be remade. I can't think of any sources to link

Whats funny to me is that we try to find rationalizations for why these games will be remade, I'll give you one good reason that has nothing to do with the fan concerns, such as getting pokemon exclusive to one game or another or that they've discontinued the old games.
1 Money, they can make some off of it, a pretty good chunk too if they advertise it to us just right...
2. A cheap way to test out 3DS for future pokemon releases. I say this because B&W came out just at the butt end of the DSi era, so if they wanted to test the 3DS in a pokemon world they can rehash R/S/E without having to come up with new pokemon, items, worlds so forth, basically just updating preexisting stuff. A perfect example is in the 3DS titles that are already coming out. "Legend Of Zelda OoT 3D" "Metal Gear Solid 3D Snake Eater" "Street Fighter 4" all remakes testing out the 3DS's specs because they are cheaper to make that way, does this mean that R/S/E will be made for the 3DS? Meh probably not, but it is still a possibility...
3. Finally because they can so why not? I'm not saying they are soulless in this its just that I think its pointless to predict that they wont do this because there IS or ISN'T and need for them too, do you think there was a need to make like a million different remakes of Megeman and Final Fantasy titles? No no there wasn't but they do it all the time and hey, thats how they pay the bills sometimes...
Do I personally think there will be a gen 5 R/S/E? I dunno, I kinda hope so cause honestly I'm a fanboy and hey maybe then gamestop will stop charging an arm and a leg for the damn original copies they have!! >< DAMN YOU GAMESTOP!

Here's an idea: let's discuss what could be in these games!
I want: *Pokemon to follow you around. *VS. Seeker *Both Aqua and Magma *Additions to the Battle Frontier *Charizard to finally learn tail glow. For God's sake, its tail is a glowing fire! *Unlimited gym rematches *Archie/Maxie backstory *Money to be more scarce so you have to conserve resources throughout the game. *A return to the type-based special/physical attack rules. *Your rival to be stronger
I don't want: *The !#$*@&^#&*$!@ phone *The exact same Battle Frontier buildings and rules *Charizard to not get tail glow *Only one Team per game *Endless flood of ubers like HGSS did

Actually, Dave, May used to give me a lot of trouble... a lot. The only harder rival battles I ever had was the final showdown with Blue.
What I really want in a Gen. 3 remake is that they go back to the old contest style (I swear, if they replace them with Super Contests, I will murder somebody) and that May can be seen in the Master Rank competitions as a potent threat. Oh, and throw other important characters in like they did for the Super Contests and Pokeathelon.
Yeah, the contests always kept me more interested in the post-story game than the Battle Frontier did.
Oh, and maybe even introduce a three-way-battle. Can you imagine Brendan and Wallace challenging Steven and each other at the same time for the Championship? Epic. Though extremely complicated. Eh, it's an idea...

Seriously, a 1 ft tall bird can learn it but not a 4'11" bug? 6) Could be fun 7) Could be interesting? Not really sure how that would improve anything 8) You want mony to be scarce and yet you want the VS Seeker? Don't see how you're gonna get both and be happy. 9) Don't remember how they used to be, so I could care less. 10) Not sure, I think Wally's strong enough. May's just has challenging, I just wish she would evolve her starter to the final stage. 1a) The phone was in HG/SS so I can't complain. 2a) Again. I don't care for the Battle Frontier. 3a) Scyther needs to learn Fly first. 4a) Again; you're wanting a remake of Emerald then? 5a) Then don't play the meta game?

I don't care if it's a remake of Emerald. Emerald was the best of the Hoenn games so that would be nice, but I actually just wanted to square off with both teams again. In fact, those three-way battles (which probably won't happen until at least the next gen) would be AWESOME for the Hoenn remakes. Player vs. Archie vs. Maxie. On the topic, I want Archie and Maxie back story the same way we got Giovanni back story in HGSS (which was the only thing those games were good for). Scyther can learn fly, I'm cool with that. Plus, it'd demand an edit to all those scythers-can't-fly-but-spearows-can-carry-you comics. I don't want the phone 'cause it's annoying as fuc k. No, I don't play the dos program with pictures meta game.

Scyther can't learn Fly. I've looked. Giovanni didn't really get a backstory. They just confirmed that he was Silver's father. Only Team leader with a backstory was Cyrus.

NO! WE HAVE TO PICK APART PANDA'S POST >_> coughjustdropitalreadyimdonecoughAnyway, what I do expect to see in an R/S/E remake is cramming the game with as much fun stuff as the last. Like HGSS, but without the crap spam of ubers.
