A lucky horse shoe is also nice, makes falling much less painful. XD
And know what ya mean about silly buildings, already resorted to building over-the-top homebases to help keep things interesting... then again might have something to do with my friends constantly killing the bosses just before I get to the fight. @_@
... at least I got a use for the plunders from the sky islands I suppose.

Today I found a corruption, and thank god I did. I killed some Devourers, Eater of Souls, and got to the bottom of a chasm to only find that the Shadow Orb was below my accessibility. I get back up, and grind for more items and coins. I might even get to making Worm Bait and a Suspicious Eye if I find a Demon Altar.

Ironically, the best way to find a Demon Altar is in the Corruption chasms. You may want to invest in Dynamite to blow away the Ebonstone(The dark rock you can't mine through yet.) so you can better explore the Corruption. If you can however get to an altar, you could try to defeat Eye of Cthulhu to get the Dryad to move in. Then you get HAPPY DUST and can turn Ebonstone into regular stone.

Well, if I kill a boss, it could drop Demonite ore, but I'm not sure it's a risk worth taking at my low-level. I do have plenty of money stored up, so I guess one stick of dynamite shouldn't hurt at this point. And are Demon Altars found at the bottom of the chasm, or below it like Shadow Orbs are?

Well, today I mined a good 400-500 ft I'm guessing. I found a lot of silver, some gold, a mushroom grotto, two chests(containing a magic mirror, stick of dynamite, two gold coins, some silver bars, and 49 jester arrows), and a crystal heart. I expanded my apartment to make room for the slutty nurse to move in. I now have 5 mana slots and 6 health slots. I'm hoping to make a mushroom farm soon with the seeds I got. Also, I have yet to find a Demon Altar in my Corruption yet.

Bought this today but I won't get around to playing it until tomorrow. Any tips for new guys? -Build shelter asap or you will cry. (Wood is the ideal material) -You can make wall versions of lots of building materials. These will show up in the background and prevent enemies from spawning. Use these in your shelter. -Hammers can break backgrounds. -Picks are faster and do better damage than axes when you're starting off so kill off slimes with it until you get a sword. -After you have a safe shelter, go spelunking in natural caves for ores and artifacts. -Go here for wiki. -Do not read user comments at the bottom of the pages or your brain will melt at the sheer stupidity of the Terraria community. -Seriously, don't.

Eh, not much I can think of, but some possible things that might help off the top of my head...
Buy a piggy bank and a mining helmet when you can. The piggy banks will let ya have access to stuff in em no matter where on the map or server you are on as long as it's set up, while mining helmet makes mining a tad more convenient since you don't have to constantly switch to or set up light sources. At least until you find an orb of light or a weapon/armor that glows.
The minimum requirements for a room (that I can remember anyways) for an NPC are a table, chair, light source, height of two squares taller than you, a door, and a complete non-dirt wall. Also you'll need to have a gun before an arms dealer appears.
Make a grappling hook as soon as you can. Makes getting around much easier. Needs 3 iron chains and a hook (forget if that's what it's called or not).
Try to stay with sets when using armor as you'll get set bonuses, at least when ya gotta do boss fights and such.
Enemies will spawn in your home base if you don't have a complete non-dirt wall.
And on a last note, an easy and simple way to keep zombies out of your home base during a blood moon is to dig pits directly in front of the doors. Just has to be deep enough that it can't access it without jumping.

Didn't see this post. Eye of Cthulhu is very easy. Make sure you have lots of potions. Simply buy 300 shuriken from the merchant and start chucking it at him. DO NOT DIE OR HE WILL RETREAT FOR THE REST OF THE NIGHT. I personally built an arena to fight him because I hate when he flies below the ground making him impossible to hit. Demon Altar positions are completely random. They can actually show up anywhere in the world, they're just MUCH more common near corruption. They can end up inside walls or in open space. Some people have even found them near the surface. Just try diving every corruption chasm and look for them. They glow a little making them easy to spot. Like I said before, you really should invest in dynamite.

www.terrariaonline.com/threads/moving-forward.15820/Oh man. -New harder world types to continue game progression (Ex: Alien plants, alternate dimensions, evil worlds, etc.) Uh. He means alien planets right? Because that sounds kind of cool. Equip rocket boots and hop on floating island. Then rocket boot off the island into SPAAAAAAAAACE. PCHOOOOOOO-Enemy factions that will move into your world, and build their own city. You can slaughter them while they are weak, or let them build up their strength to get better rewards. This is definitely interesting. Mass slaughter is always fun and I imagine it leaves lots of cool ruins on the map after you dynamite everyone to death.-More events: Volcanoes, earthquakes, more/improved invasions, etc.. Volcanoes would be nice for easier access to obsidian if you're TOO MUCH OF A GIRL TO FLOOD HELL I guess. Wonder what Earthquakes would be like.

I've flooded hell on 3 worlds now. Stood and the obsidian shielding the lava from the water, and mined on top of it like a boss. Although ever since I set up an infinite water/lava source beneath my house in my main world I haven't ever really needed obsidian ever again.

Is anyone going to set up a server for this? The game is fun by itself but I think it would be 10x more fun with you guys.

Today may have been the most fun, and most eye-opening session of Terraria I've ever played. I'll get to that once I'm done with what's happened leading up to today. The two nights before this session of gameplay, both nights were Blood Moons. I have to say, I wish every night was a Blood Moon night. I killed so many zombies I got a full accessory bar full of shackles. I probably killed enough Eyes to summon Cthulu, to be honest. I explored the Corruption a bit, and found that just about every chasm had a Shadow Orb. It was a good prospect for future planning. So anyway, on to what happened today. I mined for a good while, and found a lot. I found one chest, and 8 Crystal Hearts. Yes, 8. I now have 200 Health altogether. I found over a stack of every mineral save for gold, which I found none of. I also found 9 amethyst, 2 topaz, and 14 sapphire. Pleased, I went back up. I crafted a full iron armor set and went to do some star hunting. I found two, not much luck as other nights. I now have 6 leftover stars and 120 Mana. Getting antsy and impatient, I bought a stick of dynamite from the Demoman. I traveled to the Corruption, found the shallowest Shadow Orb I could find, and blew through to it. I broke it, and went back home with a Musket in hands and an Arms Dealer living in my apartment. Not long after, I got a message that a meteor had landed. Despite not having an obsidian skull, I explored trying to take note of where it is. Unfortunately, having a Large Map does no help to finding meteors at all. I warped back home, and traveled all the way through my Corruption. I ended up on a large hill, and I was greeted there by surface gold. Unfortunately, I couldn't mine it, and here's why. I found another Corruption a bit past the first, and I started to climb down a chasm. I read the message "You feel an evil presence watching you..." and immediately warped home. I grabbed my potions, shurikens, and headed on over to my pre-made Cthulu fighting arena. Night came about 30 seconds later, and the fight began. At first, I was trying to get used to him, and made many careless mistakes. Soon, I was much more comfortable in the arena and got him down to halfway point. It was much harder to dodge him, and I was unconsciously using less and less potions as I went along. I got him down to somewhere between 700-800 health and I saw that my Health was dangerously low. I went for my potions, but Cthulu had slain me by the time I could react. I was stupid to not use potions, and it was a shame that I had to lose to such a low-level boss. Now that I know how he thinks, the next time will be very different. I can assure that. And I could make a server. My guess is that you guys want a Large Map, right? (sorry if I get ninja'd, this was a long post. )
