Yesterday was Eid al-Adha, a major Muslim holiday. From the moment I woke up to the moment I fell asleep, I had a great time, and figured it'd be a good idea to make a thread where, if one of us has an overall amazing day, we list highlights. That way we hopefully can take positives from each other.
So here's how mine went...
Eid al-Adha 1432 AH
November 6, 2011
- Had a bad dream where a friend from high school was chasing me and pelting me with gummy worms. It was annoying, but when I woke up and saw sunlight, I jumped out of bed right away, full of energy.
- Went to the mosque in time for pre-prayer chanting which soothed my heart.
- Prayed with many, many people, beside the father of the girl I love, who doesn't know yet. >_> The prayer also soothed my heart.
- Listened to a very touching post-prayer speech about Abraham and Ishmael, peace be upon them.
- After the prayer, hugged and kissed a lot of friends, and met a lot of new, very friendly people.
- Socialized with the community.
- Took a drive with three friends, listening to lively music as we cruised past wide fields to a farm.
- Watched two of my friends slaughter sheep, a ritual of Eid al-Adha. The lambs didn't move, the cut was so precise and swift.
- Went to a friend's house for a meal and some nice discussion with him and his three sisters.
- Went to a small amusement park. Played with the kids and even got smacked in the head by a medicine ball by one of the 4-7-year-olds. Eased the pain by watching a hockey game.
- Went back to the mosque to do some cleaning for a party.
- Attended a party for the kids, where games like pass-the-book-between-eachother-using-only-your-head and pop-as-many-balloons-as-possible were played. The background drumming was very lively and I got involved with the kids, doing a lot of clapping, and they loved it.
- Out of my excitement, drew a large celebratory picture on a whiteboard in three minutes.
- Talked and laughed with some of my teenage friends before a hilarious car ride with two of the boys and one of their mothers.
- Told my mother about my day, which cheered her up.
- Slept with a calm heart, and woke up with a calm heart.
- Began the 353-day wait for the next Eid al-Adha.
Had an awesome day? With unexpected positives? Want to share? Go ahead! Keep it clean of any explicit content though (sexual, foul language, gory violence, etc).
