Mwahahaha! Puke pots!! That would be a nasty surprise for whatever enemy Link throws them at.
(Hey, Brendan does Link's glowy item with fanfare every time he gets something, so why can't I mention Link throwing pots as weapons?)

Brendan would be in trouble if he fought at the Dewford gym.

... Oh, I see. It's fine for May to be rude to Brendan, but if he's rude to her, she has a temper tantrum. I hope Rocky kills that birch in her sleep.

The bad thing about rocky is that he is a dark type. I say the only possible way that Brendan would win is with his cascoon

Oh yes. Harden, Tackle, String Shot, and Poison Sting are going to be so helpful. ¬_¬
You all underestimate Rocky... He could end up getting Psychic from Random Attack. Or Aeroblast. Or any other attack that would work well against fighting types.

You overestimate Rocky. Random attack is random, and thus he might be cursed with a Helping Hand in his own match. Not to mention from a literary standpoint, it'd get boring for Superman to win each time at the end of each show Fishing, caves, stumbling through the dark... Many opportunities to add something more potent to its repertoire

Yeah, because fishing for Magikarp is really gonna rack up those EXP points faster than you can say "Rayquaza is the weakest legendary Pokémon ever." Stumbling in the dark isn't going to happen, because May Hitler told Brendan he has to search the souther part of Dewford. The cave is not in that direction.
And how can you say it's bad for Superman to win all the time? Uhm, yeah, I bet everyone would have loved the part in Superman where he gets killed and the evil supervillians take over the planet. (Yes, this barely compares to Pokémon X, but your comparison is just as bad.)

Magikarps may be low xp, but it doesn't take much xp to hatch your cucoon in the first place If Superman wins all the time, where's the suspense? Oh man, a new villian appears whose powers are like nothing we've ever seen before... we know he's going down. They always go down. A little thing like the death of Superman changes things up a little, makes things a little less predictable ;D edit: Southeast and now he can fish. Looks like he might be upgrading his party after all

A little thing like the death of Superman changes things up a little, makes things a little less predictable ;D If Superman dies, there goes the series. Now can you stop trying to relate Superman to Pokémon X? It doesn't compare at all. And no, it would take Brendan too long to train on Magikarp. May Hitler would birch at him for wasting time... And again, all he can get is Magikarp. He's not upgrading his team. And before you say "OMFG HE CAN GET TEH GYRADOS!!!" stop and think for a moment. Does Brendan really seem like the kind of guy who would bother training a Magikarp so he can get Gyrados? And even if he did, would Hitler be patient enough to let him? The answers are obviously "No." and "frick no." But anyway... OLD ROD!! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!! Recon, you da man. You find funnies in parts that would normally be boring.

Gyarados? All the way to level 30? While torchic hasn't gone far passed level 5 if at all? Patience, mj. Maybe he'll run into a fully-grown one near the end-game on his own But Superman did die once. He eventually came back to life and everyone continued happily as if nothing ever happened, but it did prove he was unbeatable, even if just once. My point is that Rocky is not an unbeatable force that will always pull through because of Random Attack. He still has his type weaknesses and Random may bless him with something completely useless. A fighting gym where a low-level darkness has a low chance of surviving yet where a fully-evolved bug may make it would be the perfect opportunity to demonstrate such Does Brendan know that all that's there is Magikarp? Does he know yet that he has to fight his fish before bringing it home for dinner? The fisher just told him that it was a reknown fishing spot, so theres a good chance Brendan might not know better and end up fishing for hours on end, always hoping for something better, whilst Wally and May work their butts off finding Steven

1. Enough with the Superman crap. It doesn't apply at all. 2. Rocky still has vastly superior stats. He would beat the fighting types. 3. Hitler won't let Brendan keep fishing. 4. Brendan has nowhere to train his Cascoon where it won't either get KOed or Hitler will drag his butt away to look for Steven. And Dustox doesn't even learn any bug type moves until later in it's lifespan, and it's Confusion attack wouldn't be enough to beat Brawly considering he uses Meditite, which isn't weak to Psychic attacks, and also has Confusion attack to kick Dustox's butt.
Stop counting out Rocky... Just because Recon wasn't super lame and gave Brendan a Mew like that other comic did doesn't mean that he can't breat Brawly.

1) I'm already done with that. If you read more than a glance or skim, you'd see where it says "my point is [etc]", thus ending the point with the clincher 2) High stats didn't help him against the rock-types, and that was just high defense. This time he's going against types with an advantage over him 3) Always calling May "Hitler" for taking charge... good luck finding a lass of your own at that rate 4) He's well aware of the switching-out training maneuver, and May won't drag him anywhere - she sent him to that area, so he's doing what he was told, and unless she has suddenly become clingy of Brendan, she'll most likely be exploring the area she designated herself 4b) What about Makuhita and its enhanced XP gain? There are many ways for the B-Man to overcome
