Crazy talk, they haven't been adventuring for a week, it's clearly been seven years! That's why Brendan and May are in their 20s now, right? ...maybe not right

Ooh true, getting those 4 IV Dittos is another huge part of chaining
And yeah, i've got a good setup for it with a couple of Smeargles, i was just annoyed when i tried using pokemon that didn't have all the right moves and i was left in cycles where i just couldn't win, which i guess is my fault (also, trying to get a Galvanize Geodude without it self-destructing... i GTS'd that one in the end)
As for the trials, i did enjoy that humor aspect of them. I have a gut urge to give a 1:1 comparison to gyms, which WERE trying to be at least a bit challenging before the final boss, but that's not really the case. Like you said, in this game it's all easy until the very challenging boss, which works in a different way. I really liked the setting that the Grass and Ghost trials set up
I don't want to sound overly critical of S/M, i really really enjoyed it, i just wanted to voice some gripes i had here and there, haha

S/M introduced a new way to chain for shinies that's a birch to get into the right cycle for (cause you'll need pretty specific pokemon/moves/items to get right), but once you're in it, you're golden and are almost guaranteed a shiny if you're patient
The level curve in S/M stays pretty solid till you hit the last island, then you'll most likely find yourself underleveled, which is nice cause it adds a bit of spice. Boss battles were neat, and i thoroughly enjoyed them because some of them were pretty hard (looking at you, Lurantis), but the trial leading up to them was always so *lame*. I wish i could say a bit more on the matter, but i stopped playing after i got a bit into the last island... whoops

I like playing on Showdown every now and again, it's good for playing around with random pokemon and trying to figure out something that works
Also, it continues that the only shiny that i've ever had in a main series game is a Zubat in FireRed... my first pokemon game... a decade ago...

It's basically part of my daily internet routine to check here and see if anyone's posted before I go about the rest of my browsing
I've been doing alright, I'm starting my second semester of college tomorrow and I hope that it goes well
How about anyone else?

How about we liven things up with some talk of the new game?
Right now I've just beat the second island, and my team consists of: Fletcher - Dartrix Zazzerpan - Salandit Bairre - Ribombee Valence - Pikachu Tubbs - Snorlax Rocky - Crabrawler
I plan on replacing Valence for an Alolan Geodude and Rocky for an Alolan Sandslash on the next island, just to get some nice variety with all the new stuff
I think that the trials and Totem "boss" battles add character and difficulty to the game, which I appreciate a lot. They also must have buffed the AI, or at least given them much more viable moves, because some trainer battles actually feel challenging for a change
One thing I don't like, however, is that every single wild pokemon can and will call for help, making it so damn difficult to catch one you want without having to defeat 10 more of the same species. But in the same vein, it's also extremely helpful if you're looking for a shiny, a hidden ability, or are EV training (or if you need a female Salandit because they're basically just slightly-less-annoying Combees)
How are you guys enjoying it so far?

Absolutely love Decidueye. Grass/Ghost Archer? Sign me the eff up, I'm glad the final grass evo is something good this time after the disappointment that was Chesnaught...
Primarina is also gorgeous. I like the Meganium-esque "feminine" starter, but let's be real, if my male Popplio wants to wear a dress, more power to him
And Incineroar is Grrrrrreat! ( And by that, I mean that the designers for fire starters need to stop making everything bara :I )
