I recently pikced up VIII, and I must say I'm totally stunned- the game's beautiful! The characters are great and the action's fun. My only complaint is that the random battles can be diffficult, although they're very rewarding.
Anyone else play DQ VIII, or any other game in the series for that matter?

Jessica...boobies...divine bustier...*Gurgle* Aherm...I meant to say, yes, I got it. It was fun. The game is beautiful...heh...heh...guuu.... Anyways, I've been a DQ fan for a while. I've beaten the 1-3 Remakes...didn't beat Divinegon on 3 though...stupid dragon that grants stupid wishes... I've also beaten Dragon Warri-Quest Monsters 1&2. I even have THIS for some strange reason...

I've been playing the series since it was first released for the original Nintendo. 8 was never released in the BX's over here in germany, so the last one I played was 7...which I enjoyed quite a bit. I think I was up to 300 hours on it. One was good, number two was a pain in the rear, three was lots of fun anf 4 is great if you can find it.

Yeah...it's easy to tell you play it considering how your namesake is mentioned in the first 3 games...

ANd do you mean the GB DWM 1&2 OR the 2-in-1 PSOne Remake of them (Also Japan Only)? *Is a DW/Q Nerd*

Gameboy Remake for all of them.(1-3) I just can't resist having a turn based RPG I can play anywhere. Also, isn't Divinegon only on the GBC Remake anyways?
I have the roms for SNES remake of III, but didn't really get far.
I wish I had the PSX remake of DWM and the Caravan one...TRANSLATE IT DAMNIT!!!

Have you beaten VIII yet? I've only gotten to-actually...I'll wait to hear your reply. I don't wanna spoil anything you haven't played through yet.

No, I haven't. Angelo just joined my party... no very far along at all, is it? :/ I try to play once in a while; once I start I usually end up sucked into 5-hour + gaming sessions. God forid I play before breakfast; once I tried that and didn't eat anything until 4 PM.

Haha. You will grow to hate Angelo...all he is actually good for is using Kabuff and having a better healer than the hero...-_-
So what Skills are you currently focusing on for your characters? Here's mine.
Hero-Boomerang//Sword Yangus-Clubs Angelo-Sword//Bow Jessica-Whip(Ugh...What a waste.)//Sex Appeal//Staves

Hero- Swords- little bit of bommerang and I upped sourage until I got Zoom. Yangus- Clubs/Axes, Humanity until he learned Heal. It's useful against bosses to have more than one character who can heal. Jessica- Whips/Staves, and for sex appeal I *may* but as of now I haven't given it much Angelo- Hell if I know yet. It'll probably be mainly bows, and either charisma or swords. Hero really covers me in swords, though.

You should get enough Sex Appeal for Jessica until you learn this thing where there's like a chance that she auto-charms enemies. It's really useful when an enemy skips its turn to gawk at her xD. And at higher levels you get an even higher probabilty of auto charm, but then again, you shouldn't spread em out so much...just max one thing up first.
I hate doing Angelo because everytime I select to increase the bow I glance at Staves wondering what magic I could gain if I increased it...I also wanna use Cursed Swords...and only Angelo can do that with the help of highs Sword Skills...>_<

Actually, if you google 'Dragon Quest Walkthrough' and follow the first link on every subsequent page, you'll find a pretty damn good guide which'll list the abilities you learn as you boost skills.

I'm one of those people who use Walkthroughs as a last resort. And why use google when there's gamefaqs.com...

Well, when I google for a walkthrough gamefaqs is susually the first choice to come up. You don't really need a strategy guide ofr DQ8- it's only good for two things; plotting out your skills, and finding out a recommended level to move forward at. There aren't normally save points close to bosses so knowing what level to fight them at is really important to know.....
