I've been wondering one thing... Pokémon you get in trade doesn't obey you if you don't have any Badges. Then why does Wally's Electrike obey him?
Pokémon-X's logic seems to be straight from the game, so Wally's Electrike shouldn't listen to him. Neither should his Roselia and Oddish, even though he hasn't used them yet. May got her Sableye from Wally, so it should ignore her when she's gonna use it in battle.
Makit and Mawile listen to Brendan, because he has enough Badges. But I don't understand why Wally's Electrike obeyed him in that double battle against Anna and Meg. If May and Wally won't win any Gyms, their traded pokémon will ignore them.
I base this theory on the fact that Makit didn't obey Brendan properly until he received the Knuckle Badge.

Although it seems like the game, it works pretty differently in the comic, as stated about vital throw never missing:

I know there are some differences between the game logic and the comic logic. But this particular theory is the same as in the game.
There is a possibility that the battle didn't last long enough for Electrike to disobey Wally... Although it was a pretty long battle. You know, sometimes they obey you, and sometimes they don't... But Electrike didn't disobey Wally once during that long double battle. I think that's strange.

Don't delve too deep into this, I mean half the things that happen in this comic arent up to game rules. Just let Recon do his thing

Maybe because Brendan has the badges, all the trainers who travel with him get its benefits.

Yeah, they all can use HMs... Because Brendan has the Badges... That doesn't make any sense either!
It would be pretty annoying if they all had to win the Gyms, though, so it is better this way.

I enjoy the comic more than the air I breathe! And yet, I'd enjoy it even more if someone gave me a satisfying explanation to this dilemma!
What can I say? I'm a stress-head.

Wow, I'm late into this discussion. Anyway, it probably follows how good you are as a trainer rather than gym battles. Maybe if Wally got a level 79 ludicolo, then it would disobey him.

You mean that Makit didn't obey Brendan because he wasn't a good trainer? I think he's a good trainer. Now Wally has used Electrike twice in battle, and again it obeyed him. There must be some logical explanation for this, but I can't figure it out. Off-topic: Ludicolo would be a perfect pokémon for Wally. Strong green water-type. Wally likes.

He was a rookie, but still quite capable. Brawly said after Brendan defeated him, that "Knuckle Badge makes all pokémon up to level thirty, even those you get in trades, obey you without question." Remember? Before that moment Makit didn't obey Brendan properly, so he needed the Knuckle Badge to make Makit listen to him. So Electrike shouldn't obey Wally, and yet it does. And what's more, if Makit hits level 30 before Brendan gets the Heat Badge, it should stop obeying him. Rocky thinks so here.So why does Electrike obey Wally when it's obvious that he needs Badges? Or did Recon just make a mistake? Someone tell me, please!
