Recon's Comic Con Log!

[Recon Dye]

As most of you know, I was at Comic Con 2008. And here is a brief recap.. along with some pictures of what was going. We've had Rick staying with us since Tuesday, so when we're driving to and from the con, he's with us.

July 23rd - Preview Night

We have to drive an hour and a half to get to San Diego, It's a bit exciting, everyone seems to be in good spirits. Bam is driving the car, she's a bit tired. We finally arrive and drop off Rick so that we can take Kroze to pick up Ren. Kroze is the site admin for Yu-Gi-Oh! - The Abridged Series and Ren is one of the moderators. We arrive at the airport and aquire Ren, and return to the Con. find a parking near by spot (The easiest day to find a parking spot.) and walk back to the con, Ren and Kroze go off somewhere because they already had the Professional badges that Kroze had aquired for them. Bam and I go stand in line for about an hour to get our badges. (Rick had some problems getting his to print off to show them, so Kroze was nice enough to get him an extra badge. After finally getting our badges we have to go get them changed at the badge services booth, BAM wanted her's changed to her initials.. B.A.M. and I wanted my first name shortened to Recon, and my middle name taken out.

Then we went to find the others. We caught up with Kroze by the main ballroom and then went to get in line to see the main hall of the con. Our places were being saved by Matt, a friend of Kroze's. We found Rick, and Ren, along with Cody another friend of Kroze's. Cody is a really awesome guy and I'm glad to have met him. Egocheck and his girlfriend Melissa were also there, Egocheck is another site moderator for the Abridged Series. While trying to get in line were acosted by some bitchy lady who thought being a few places back would mean she wouldn't get to fit into the huge main hall especially since you didn't really need to stand in line anymore after they opened the doors. Rick and I were stuck outside of the line, because they summoned some random staff member.. so we waited. Once inside we caught up with BAM, we didn't get many pictures.. but here's an interesting one.

I take horrible pictures by the way. We walked around a lot with Rick and looked a lot of the exibits.. Pokémon TCG, the new Ghostbusters game, Spore, Various comic book sellers, and various Comic artists, Rifftrax, Red vs. Blue, Stargate Worlds. There was a lot to see. After a few hours it was time to go get LittleKuriboh. So we found Kroze and left for the airport. It took us a while to find the right terminal, but we managed to collect him and his girlfriend, Safty. We left for his hotel, the poor guy was crammed into a room with seven other people. He was exhausted from his flight, but went out to eat with everyone anyone. BAM, Rick and I were tired however, so we left for home.

July 24th - The First Night

We got off to a really bad start this day... too make a long story short, we were stuck in traffic for five hours because a meat truck exploded.. So we were late in getting to the con, so I missed all the fun of seeing what happened to LK (LittleKuriboh) at the Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's panel.

We also got to meet Raldok from Star Trek Shorts! He's an awesome guy and really fun to hang out with. I'm can't wait to see him again next year. We even got a picture of us together.

This day wasn't very eventful otherwise.. Rick and BAM got autographs and we left a bit earlier to go home and get some sleep. And Bam met her idol, Bender!

July 25th - The Second Night

Friday wasn't too good of a day either.. We were all pretty stressed and I don't remember doing that much.. We had walked around a lot, and some stuff for YGOTAS was supposed to be filmed, but camera's battery wasn't charged. Rick dressed up as Black Mage and got asked by random people to take pictures with them.

About 3 o'clock BAM and I went to stand in line to get into the room with the Mystery Science Theater 3000 panel. Later on LK and Safty joined us, and we got in a bit early and witnessed a Panel for X-Box Live. They showed various crappy shorts that they're planning on releasing this year. Then we watched the Venture Bros. Panel.. which was awesome, mostly because of the fans. After that.. it was the Robot Chicken panel.. which was equally as fun. Then it was the awesome MST3K Panel, the 20th reunion of the cast. It was great.. a nice series of clips, jokes from everyone on the panel. I was just really happy to be there.

Afterwards we were invited to dinner at TGI Fridays.. so we walked for an hour over there.. where we saw Neil Patrick Harris, who promptly ran away. We stayed and had some soda then left.. because TGI Fridays is expensive as hell.. on the way back we all had nervous breakdowns and killed homeless people.

July 26th - The Third Night

We were off to a bit of a late start.. When we got there.. we found out that BAM had lost her badge.. But thanks to Bryy, we were able to get something temporary for the day. So for the time being, BAM was called Stephanie. >_> We finally had a charged battery for the cameras so I wrangled up some cosplayers for LK to do the bit where he makes the Yami Doll interview people as Dan Green. It was fun to watch, especially the Dr. Horrible bit. All the time I was trying to stay at of the view of the camera. After that, We headed to the Upper Deck booth, LK was interviewed by some guy doing.. something about entertainment on the internet.. during the end though, we were kicked out of the booth. After that I was interviewed by the same guy. I'll try to get that video up someday. We had gone back to the little table we had captured for ourselves after that. And LK did another Dan Green bit with two kids playing Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG. Then we had to go all the waaay back to the upper deck booth to video tape Kroze and LK playing Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG for the first time. A bit after that we helped LK find Safty, she was standing in some line. Then we enjoyed a bit of a break outside as Rick had his 3rd pretzle of the day. A bit later LK and Safty come walking by cause they couldn't get into the panel. I don't really remember much after that.. but we took some pictures.. and all ended up at Denny's! We had a wonderful Dinner/Breakfast whatever they serve, and joked around a lot. Bam got pictures of me with everyone.

Then we had one great group picture. Which Bam isn't in cause she was nice enough to take.

But it was getting late and we had to take LK to the airport, so he could wait 5 hours for his flight. -_- I felt bad for him, but at least he wouldn't miss his flight. Bam snapped one last photo of us before we left.

Then we had a bit of a sad goodbye.. and headed back to take Egochek and Melissa home, and pick up Rick so we could head home.

July 27th - The Last Night

We ended up not going.. after all of the stress we've had in the last few days, we thought we needed a break, so we slept most of the day.

All in all we had a pretty good time.. Everyone we hang out with was awesome. LK is one of the nicest guys on the face of the earth. Safty is this sweet, fun to be around woman. Kroze is the most generous person I've ever met. Cody was nice and awesome to hang out with, and I wish I would have got to hang out with him more. Ren was a bit quiet, but she was fun to hang out with. Bryy was a hell of a nice guy and Egochek wasn't what I expected.. he's a real great guy, who I didn't get to see enough of.

I'm wanting to go back next year!

P.S. Comic Con is also why I couldn't update on time.. >_>

Hmm... a meat truck exploding seems random though. I wish I could have been at Comic-Con, but oh well. At least you had fun with the staff at YGOTAS and other peoples.

Sounds like you all had loads of fun. I wish I coulda gone. Then again my User Title is Uber Annoying Spammer so Recon probably would have sent me packing after the 40th autograph.

Looks like an awesome time, I would have come, but i had a stupid vacation, plus you guys wouldnt have wanted a huge fanboy stalking you. (both you and LK)

Hi Recon! I'm one of the boys who were at your resting table all day Saturday Playing Yu-Gi-Oh waiting for Little Kuriboh, and there you were! Sorry I didn't talk to you more, I guess I was too busy stalking LK for that little bit of time. Anyway I'm glad you recognized me when I was watching Lk and Kroze duke it out in a Duel. Just thought I should stop by to say "Hi!" because you told me to!
