Yeah probably. I don't quite understand the second question.

Probably because anything that needs to be discussed has already been done so and people drag topics on that don't need posts in them.

The possibilities are endless. You guys just need to come up with some ideas...

If you guys really want to make different sections active, it's not that hard.
Now, first and foremost, remember that You guys are the participants. You are the Community members. You're not creating topics for other people to enjoy; you're doing it for yourselves. I don't see anyone else around here but the same people each day, so don't forget that you are the major players here.
The Spam thread etc. seep at participation in other threads. I've seen that thing gain immense numbers of posts within ten minutes. Must be the new crowd, cause I've never seen it move that fast. Not exactly the best indicator when your General Chatter Thread gains several pages within fifteen minutes, but that's neither here nor there. Wean yourselves of that thread unless it's for something minor that doesn't deserve it's own thread, and you force participation in other threads and areas.
That's just for starters. You all are big folk, I'm sure you can do it.

Pretty much what VMag said. I typically see it on the index as GD's last posted thread. And even things that would typically go in other sections ends up in the massive thread. That is why I personally divert my attention there and try to start different topics elsewhere. I can't say get rid of it because I was an advocate. But I can say out with the RPG and in with forum games and/or debate.

That would be good to get a forum games/debate section in.
I personally would like to see a games section rather than a debate section because that could lead to flaming

The general discussion forum can accommodate debates, I'm sure. All it needs is the right stimulation.
Forum games, though, perhaps that could work. A nice place to keep those sorts of threads tidy, and it promotes board participation, creativity (depending on the game), and makes the members move around to different sections to participate.

Flaming can happen anywhere. Besides, if there was a sorta-active mod like DemonicChocobo around then you wouldn't have to worry about flaming. Plus, debate encourages thoughtful posts and logical insight. It wouldn't be "lol it mai hill cuz i em king of hil".
Can we create sub-forums on Proboards?
