Watching this battle while listening to Clutch's "Electric Worry" is very amusing. "BANG BANG BANG BANG!"

How is Flannery's Torkoal not knocked out by now? Dear me, he is a tough one...

He sure is. Maybe he's at higher level than 29.
Maxie's Camerupt certainly was at higher level than 25!

I was going to call this when he first used Fire Spin, but my account was only approved today Oh well, better late than never. I can call something else in the future Anyways, SeriousJupiter, since Fire Spin and Poison take off a percentage of health, level doesn't matter. It won't increase a Pokemon's durability to those. At most, if the health was not divisible by... 16, I think the magic number for those two attack is, then it would have an extra turn to live I'm betting right now that next comic that features Brendan (you can never count out cutaways for whatever reason... I'm too tired to check, but hey, there could be a birthday coming up that Rekon is going to sprite for or something...) will have him collapse from fatigue, leaving May to make a smart butt remark before she and Wally drag him to a bed

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!
Since when can you use items in trainer matches in this world? I call cheating on Brendan's actions there.

So Flannery lost. May that be a lesson to all Gym Leaders out there! NEVER allow Brendan to use any more pokémon than you yourself have!
And Dave, using items isn't cheating. Brendan's done it before, and Wattson used a Super Potion in one of his matches against Brendan (don't remember which one).
I bet Brendan's Torkoal is very happy right now. He avenged his family and friends!

I saw this coming for a long time. Flannery, in my mind, deserved to lose. She was going strong at the beginning, and maintaining her composure while Brendan was tired. Then she got rattled and reactionary and her mindset probably played a role in her loss.
Good job, Brendan and Torkoal. As much as I like Flannery, I would have been more disappointed if Brendan's tortoise did not exact vengeance. A well-deserved win and hopefully a lesson to the fiery, new gym leader.

I laughed so much when Flannery's torkoal fainted after that bit of confusion over who fainted.

So now that Brendan beat Flannery, May can tell him that Monty's out there to get his revenge, and then she can get the Wynaut egg from that one old lady, Wally can take the Meteorite back to Professor Cozmo, and then May and Brendan can go investigate the desert and catch pokémon and then head toward Petalburg City to battle Norman, right?

New storyline next week. I'm so happy. I only started reading this comic when Fiery Flannery first started so this would be my first storyline change. And that's not important, is it? I bet the new storyline's in the desert. I hope there's going to be more Torkoal to Torkoal dialogue.
