www.eurogamer.net/articles/2010-08-11-gearbox-making-duke-nukem-reportIf you have at least glanced at a gaming website in the last 10 years you have probable heard of Duke Nukem and Duke Nukem Forever. Now for those of you who don't know, Duke Nukem Forever is a sequel to Duke Nukem 3D. But due to lazy developers it was never released. Said developers (3D Realms) went bust in 2009. Crushing hopes that Duke Nukem Forever would be released... Until about a week ago. Last week, a gaming website made an article saying that Gearbox had taken over production of Duke Nukem Forever. The article went on to say that a playable demo might be released by the end of this year! Gearbox are the same people who made Borderlands. Now I've never played it myself. I have heard several things about it. Some say it is a glitchy pile of crap while others say it is Gods gift to gamers. So I'm not too sure if Gearbox will make this as good as it was supposed to be. Now I am excited for this game. Duke Nukem 3D was one of the first games I played. It was fun. It didn't take itself seriously and it had Duke Nukem in it. More information on this will be revealled in Septembers Penny Arcade Expo. Until then though...

Wow, you seem pretty into this, I just hope it doesn't cut in to your LP of Emerald. I'll get on it soon. I have about three chapters to go up I'm just being lazy. You gave me a good idea for a new thread title for the LP though.

May 3rd, US. May 6th, Worldwide In 1997, I was excited and full on. In 2011, I am ready. Hail to the king, baby. EDIT: Here's the Press Release given by Gearbox games yesterday -
Duke Nukem Forever® Set to Kick butt and Chew Bubblegum Starting May 3, 2011
Bodacious, EGO-dosed action game brings over-the-top FUN and non-PC humor back to games
New York, NY - January 21, 2011 - 2K Games and Gearbox Software announced today what will be a landmark date in gaming history - legendary hero Duke Nukem will make his triumphant return in Duke Nukem Forever® on the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation® 3 computer entertainment system and Windows PC on May 3, 2011 in North America and May 6, 2011 internationally! Duke Nukem is one of the biggest and most recognizable brands in the interactive entertainment industry. Irreverent, non-PC, and uber macho, Duke Nukem is the perfect, uncompromising butt-kicking hero to remedy the overdose of today's gaming archetypes. Duke brings his signature brand of babe-lovin', cigar-smoking, beer-chugging and butt-kicking action as he saves the Earth and its babes from hordes of invading aliens. Where will you be when Duke Nukem Forever launches? Better mark your calendars, Duke's legend is being told this May and his brand new trailer, viewable at www.dukenukemforever.com, promises to blow your mind! "The moment fans all over the world have been waiting for is almost here," declared Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K. "May 3, 2011 marks Duke's return as he unleashes his brash and brutally honest wit on the world. His return is going to be epic and one that will make video gaming history!" Put on your shades and prepare to step into the boots of Duke Nukem, whose legend has reached epic proportions in the years since his last adventure. The alien hordes are invading and only Duke can save the world. Pig cops, alien shrink rays and enormous alien bosses can't stop our hero from accomplishing his one and only goal: to save the world, save the babes and to be a bad-butt while doing it. The King arrives with an arsenal of over-the-top weapons, non-stop action, and unprecedented levels of interactivity. This game puts the pedal to the metal and tongue firmly in cheek. Shoot hoops, lift weights, read adult magazines, draw crude messages on whiteboards or ogle the many hot women that occupy Duke's life - that is if you can pull yourself away long enough from destroying alien invaders. Duke Nukem was and will forever be a gaming icon, and this is his legend. "When I said goodbye to 3D Realms and the original Duke Nukem 3D team in 1997 and soon after founded Gearbox Software, I never in my wildest dreams imagined that a day like today would come," said Randy Pitchford, president of Gearbox Software. "Today I am proud, humbled and even astounded to announce that the day is coming at last for all gamers to be a part of video game history: Duke Nukem Forever will launch worldwide this May!" "The Duke Nukem Forever Balls of Steel edition is one seriously impressive package. It comes with a bust of the man himself (that's some kind of bust, alright), a 100-page book entitled The History, Legacy and Legend: Duke Nukem Forever Art From the Vault, a series of postcards showing off a few of Duke's many accomplishments, a radioactive emblem sticker, a DNF comic book, DNF foldable paper craft, DNF poker chips, a deck of DNF playing cards and DNF radioactive emblem dice, all stuffed into a huge DNF box and accompanied by a numbered certificate of limited-edition DNF authenticity." About $100.00 for 360 and PS3 - and about $90.00 for PC. LET'S frickin' ROCK. EDIT: 3/27/11 Be hilarious if the game get's a bug and has to be delayed a month to fix it.

You know what the worst part is? The really godawful part? The part that annoys me so goddamn much?
The release date was pushed into the middle of my exams - the exams that determine whether or not I get into college. I can't buy it and leave it until after the exams because I'm going to America for the summer.
I just hope the people I'm staying with have an xbox/ps3

You're honestly making it a choice between your future education and the Duke?
