The people on Shoddy are characters.
I did a test. I was going to say, to the users of the first Azelf users I saw, "I just faced an Azelf. This is going to be tough."
Response of first user: "lol It's popular." Response of second user: "noob"
The first user was kind throughout the match. The second user? Well, I think he called me "noob" more than he called for an attack. Using Firmer's team, I lost 6-2, took a big "NOOB!" and then said "Good game." and left the room.
If I wish to state an opinion, I'll state it. Nobody calling me "noob" is going to stop that.
Also, I turned my Crystal team (Meganium, Crobat, Sandslash, Arcanine, Magnezone (instead of Magneton), Cloyster) into a Shoddy team, and it's doing very well. In particular Sear the Arcanine. She's a killing machine. Sheldon the Cloyster has also done very well with Surf, Ice Shard (so useful), Rock Blast and Return.
I've also told a few people that one of my teams (the Firmer one) is based on a fanfic. This generated a lot of laughs, but the users were kind about it. Some even asked me for a link, but I don't think they'd read the story.
The funniest moment was when, after an Explosion took out both parties, I sent out Umbreon and my opponent sent out a Gliscor. The Gliscor's name? Arthur (Sea Cottage reference). Seriously. I brought this up to my opponent, and he began laughing ("lol", "rofl", pretty much the whole arsenal; Arthur the Gliscor was named after his dad, he said). Then, at the end, when I won by a hair, he shouted out "WOOT! GO FANFIC!" Nice to know not all of the users are rude.

The people on Shoddy are characters. They are. Funny one I got was, "YOUR A FREAKING NOOB." My response? *Doesn't Care* Other than that, I've been losing every battle and the ones I haven't lost are due to people just leaving once they figure out they're at a disadvantage with (at least what I think) their "strongest" Pokemon. I'm not really used to battling with 6 Pokemon as to 3 Pokemon like in the Battle Tower or Battle Revolution, but hey, I'll get used to it.... Or not.. I'll have to spend some time on smogon. :\

whenever somebody calls me a noob, I state how long I have been playing whatever it is, then ask if that makes me new. The response, one of three things 1: noob 2: yes 3: they don't make a response

Ok i just fought someone. I had typhosion use eruption and it said it took 100% of its hp. Yet it said it then used its leftovers? ?? Ok i asked the guy but he didn't know so he switched it out and i knocked out the other five and from our agreement he forfeited because drifblim was tecnically out. The next battle i had the guy started with a swampert i switched typhsion with tropius and used energy ball to take it out 100% and then the guy left...

I've made three different accounts, two with have the same name, Panda-x and on the Pokecommunity Server my name is Red Panda.
I was battling someone and thought we don't we give it a go and make a server for Pokemon-X?
It'd be a really fun idea.

The next battle i had the guy started with a swampert i switched typhsion with tropius and used energy ball to take it out 100% and then the guy left... This happened several times to me back in last generation when Shoddy Battle was called Netbattle. See, the actual battling aspect of pokemon is really nothing more than a simple DOS program with pictures. If anyone's played the computer game Lemonade Stand, the two coding methods are very similar, there's just minor tweaking and more variables. Point is, the computer is told that, if the answer to the equation (in this case, the amount of damage sustained) is a decimal and you want a whole number, it rounds up or down. So, while eruption may have done 99.99999999999999% damage, the program will round up and say 100%. However, because it wasn't actually 100%, the opponent survived and was able to use leftovers.

That sounds quite like a case of... Shoddy programming.

Panda: If you really want me to... I could host a separate server for tournaments only... There is no way I could support a 24 hour server by myself And if anyone cares, my theory on teams is that there should be an overarching strategy but should allow for any of the pokemon to stand by themselves if needed. To go along with the damage confusion theme, there is also a random number generator that will actually determine how much damage is done. For example, it is possible for a move to do anywhere between 93.2% and 100% Don't count on moves always doing the same amount and plan accordingly.
