For those of you who have yet to hear, there is going to be a new Nintendo console coming soon. Not much is yet known but here is what is known.
Originally people weren't sure when a new console was coming out, some didn't even know if Nintendo was making one for many more years. But just recently, they announced that there will be a new one.
The Wii 2 is just a temporary name for now. The real name has yet to be announced. Stream is also a supposed name. The name Project Cafe is the code name, just like Dolphin was for the NGC and Revolution for the Wii.
Now it is announced to be coming out in 2012, around spring time. It was originally coming out this October, however, Nintendo forgot to have third parties make some games for its release, so now we have to wait for them to get those finished. The price on release will be $350-$400, however this could change.
Now there are technical stuff I could use for this next part, but instead I will skip that and lead up to this: It will supposedly run more powerful than the XBox 360 and Playstation 3. It will have 1080p HD and support 3D functions.
Now while we don't know what the console looks like, we do know what the controller looks like from a stream a couple a weeks ago from Nintendo. The controller is well... have a look for yourself:
Goodbye Wiimote. Now looking at the pic, you are probably wondering about that screen in the middle. This screen will display menus, show gameplay, and is touch-capable. The controller will also be able for a few other things. It can stream (le gasp) the game onto the controller, turning off the TV and still being able to play the game. Now this isn't supposed to be a N3DS replacement since there is probably a limit on how far away you can get away from the console.
Now the big question is, is it backwards compatible? It is confirmed that you can play Wii and GC game on it. The only problem is, we have no idea if we will be able to transfer Virtual Console games on the Wii to it, since it has been confirmed that Virtual Console games will be on it.
Until E3 this year, we won't know much else about this. Expect E3 to show some games for this too.
Yes, yes it is.
SOURCES ARE ALWAYS NICE
