I went to see The Avengers with Comnurmi yesterday and we both liked it. It wasn't quite what I expected, but still good. All the heroes and their arguments/teamwork were very entertaining. Especially Iron Man and Hulk made me laugh a few times. Loki was a glorious bastard. Thor was just as great as in his own movie. Captain America... Well, he was decent. Hawkeye and Black Widow were good too, but I think they should have been introduced more thoroughly in the film or in the previous films they appeared in. I don't actually know a lot about many Marvel heroes, but that's good, because that means I can't be disappointed if they're any different in movies than they are in comics.
The epic battle was a bit too epic, in my opinion. All the explosions reminded me of Transformers. Fortunately the characters were all shitloads better.
Too bad Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, didn't appear in the movie. She was only mentioned briefly. That's the one thing I felt like was missing from the film. I guess the movie cost too much already for them to pay Portman.

In all fairness, the reason Jane doesn't appear is because she was being protected by Loki, if her love interest got in the way it would have to end in her death, which isn't to the comics. Most of the marvel films are as close to the comics as they possibly can be, so to kill her off would ruin it for the die hard marvel fans (like myself)

Jane was protected BY Loki? Shouldn't she have been protected FROM Loki?

oi oi oi. Spoiler tags. C'mon guys. Yes, we really need working spoiler tags on these forums. However, since we can't possibly know when any of us are going to see the new movies, it seems pointless to not be able to discuss them.

We have spoiler tags. Just colour it the same as your post. They aren't the best, but it works. You can still discuss, all you need to do to see it is highlight the portion that's spoilered.
I just really don't want spoilers for this because I really, really want to see this film.

I know we have spoiler tags, but I don't think they're very good and therefore I hate to use them. Anyway, I don't think I said anything too spoilerific, I just stated my opinion on the movie and told me what I liked and didn't like about it. I'm sorry about revealing that Jane Foster doesn't appear in it, and I hope that that didn't ruin the film for you. I think I'm going to go see it again some day, because it really was good.

Saw the Avengers last night and really enjoyed it. The after-credits bits were awesome.

Just saw Avengers with my mom for Mother's Day; we both enjoyed it. I'm sad that War Machine didn't show up. He was probably in some other country working with the army, saw the news that aliens were attacking, and flew back to the U.S. as fast as he could. Sadly, he just missed the epic fight by just a minute and out of shame he didn't appear out of fear of Tony picking on him.

War Machine's stationed out of California. He probably wasn't called because War Machine was never tagged for the Avengers Initiative. Out-of-Universe: The film would have been bogged down with too many heroes to keep track. Look at what happened with Revenge of the Fallen.

I saw The Avengers friday and it was really good. I was a little sad they didn't have Antman/Giantman and The Wasp.
But I guess they can introduce them in the next film.

Today I had a choice of going to see one of the two movies that were playing at the same time at my town's movie theater - Men In Black 3 or Dark Shadows.
I chose to go see Dark Shadows.
I liked it. Tim Burton and Johnny Depp have made some great films together, of which I've only seen a couple, and this latest one wasn't bad at all, if not one of the best either. I really liked how the vampire character Johnny was playing was the traditional vampire type a.k.a. non-Twilight vampire. He burned in the sun, he had fangs and he didn't sparkle. Good stuff.
The plot of the movie was pretty fun too. Somehow I doubt that many of you will want to see this movie, but I won't give out any spoilers either way. No, I haven't seen the series this movie is based on, but that's probably only a good thing.

That probably is a good thing; people who liked the series hated the movie. Anyway, I'm probably will not see Dark Shadows.
And I am probably going to wait 2 weeks to see Men In Black 2. Because I hate a gift card for a free movie at the Rave, but the movie had to be out for 2 weeks.
