You'd gotta be pretty blind to misread "Brendan" that many times.
The comic is a visual medium, not auditory, so hearing Brandon, <I mispelled the main character's name because I'm an idiot>, Branden, Brendin, etc, wouldn't matter.
You'd gotta be pretty ADD-afflicted to not notice the name of the main character that many times.

Regardless, May isn't that young. In fact, if I recall correctly, she's 3 years older than Ash when he first left home.

I know, but I'm just saying that I hear a lot more named "Brandon" than "Brendan" in reality, so that might be a basis for such a misconception.

I don't think Ash is much older than 16 in Sinnoh... Brock is about 20-21. I think Misty is only a year older than Ash. May and Dawn are both only ten, but May looks like 16. *coughjailbaitcough* And nobody ever seems to grow at all!

In the animé the trainers start at the age of ten... In games there are younger trainers than that.

Making Brendan 14, Wally 15 and May 13 was all Recon's idea. In the games the player is 10 years old. But it doesn't seem sensible since they look much older, so Pokémon-X ages are all very good.
