LinkI'm sure if you visit Serebii.net and other Pokemon news sites as often as I do you've already heard about this exciting upcoming Wiiware game... Well it's just recently come out in japan and now I ask you my fellow english speaking (not always as a first language) forum goers what you think of it and if you've come to be as interested in it's (hopeful) world wide release? Discuss~!

hmmmmm...it might be nice, but it seems just like a Kids Corner from pokemon Stadium, exept with toys instead of fun minigames.

Well to me it seems to have a semi fighting/adventure game feel to it, (similar albeit to the unfortunately boring "Digimon World 4" hoping it will be better then that) I've honestly wanted to play a melee style ultimate battle royal Pokemon game since I first picked up a 64 controller to play as Pikachu in Super Smash Bros. I personally feel this game is a great addition to Pokemon's Wiiware line after the insufferably underwhelming release of "My Pokemon Ranch" (Which I do own thanks to my lack of impulse control when purchasing things off of the Wii Shop Channel...) even though it is a useful engine for storing Pokemon I find it lacks many things that make a Pokemon game worth while. (Such as... oh I don't know battles!) Still a slightly better purchase then "Pokemon Revolution" which really lacked the attractive features of the old 64 stadium games but I digress...

I have a wii that's slightly been...tampered with, so as soon as I find the file for it, I'll give this a try and give you guys my impressions.
EDIT: Okay, got it, gonna go try it now.
**WARNING THE REST OF THIS POST MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS.**
Okay, after some initial problems getting it to install on my Wii, I got it up and running and wow, it's actually really good.
Let's be honest. Pokemon side games, while not utterly garbage, aren't exactly amazing. Because of this I was expecting an entertaining game, but with a few disappointments. However, I found that I was wrong. This is actually a good Pokemon sidegame. I mean really, I would have actually paid for it if I didn't have alternate methods of obtaining it. Anyway, on to the actual review.
First off, you don't exactly play as Pokemon in this game. Or rather, the Pokemon aren't exactly Pokemon. They're wind-up toys, and you, the player, are the owner of some kind of magical wind-up key that brings the Pokemon to life. The game starts off with...a Rattata. A wind up key is stuck into said Rattata and it expands and comes to life and is the first Pokemon you control. The Rattata is then sent into what can only be described as magical battle arena world. The Rattata sneaks into the arena...and becomes a participant in the Battle Royale!
Oh, I should probably mention, the game is played with the Wiimote sideways and doesn't use motion control as far as I've seen. The thing I was worried about was that every Pokemon would just be the same, but this isn't true, each Pokemon has a unique attack which can be used by pressing the (2) button.(I think later on, some Pokemon may have a secondary attack activated with the (1) button.) My Rattata uses a plain and simple Tackle attack which causes him to move forward, potentially hitting twice per attack. Moves and stats are randomized so you could end up with a Rattata with a longer tackle or more health or something.
Anyway, Rattata fights long and hard...and is utterly defeated. He is then ejected from the Arena, and you get sent to the main area where you have a selection of various Pokemon habitats to explore. Step on any of the trampoline things and you get sent into a habitat, which plays a lot like...well, an action RPG. I chose to enter the Forest area. You start off with your really crummy Rattata and beat up a lot of enemy Pokemon along the way. Each Pokemon you defeat drops coins, which...I really don't know what to do with yet. On rare occasions, when you defeat a Pokemon, it reverts into a toy, and you see a Gear symbol on the ground. If you pick it up, the Pokemon is added to the party! As I said earlier, the Pokemon's strength is random, so you can end up with duplicates of a Pokemon, except one could be completely stronger than another or even have different attacks.
Anyway, after proceeding deeper into the forest, I got my first Pokemon, Caterpie! It had more health than Rattata and it's tackle felt like it moved faster and further so I decided to swap to Caterpie for a while. I then got Pikachu...which is AWESOME. Pikachu uses a mid-range electric attack but the area which it damages is wide. It was also rank 57(This is the random number assigned to every Pokemon you find and determines the Pokemon's strength. Generally, the higher, the better.) while my Rattata and Caterpie were like Rank 23. So I cruised through the forest with Pikachu who destroyed everything in 1 hit. Along the way, I got 2 Caterpies, a Parasect, and a Jigglypuff. And I finally reached...THE BOSS ROOM.
When you enter, you see an Ivysaur toy. Then suddenly, and EVIL WINDING KEY appears and starts turning causing the Ivysaur to expand until it's HUGE. You then begin to fight it. I swapped to Parasect(Type advantages apply to this game) and he took out the boss easily. I then got the Ivysaur!(It seems bosses CAN turn into toys, but it's all up to luck, I was lucky.) Anyway, when I returned to the main area, new buildings popped up. I...have no idea what most of them do, but one of them is for selling Pokemon. I accidentally sold the Rattata I started with. ;_; Anyway, with that, I decided to take a break.
And that's the end of my first impressions with this game.
**END SPOILERS**
Bottom line is, it's really fun. I hope it gets a world wide release. I also hope it gets Wifi play.(I think I spotted an option to when running around the buildings.) Pitting the Pokemon you collect against other people would be REALLY awesome.

I've gotten a bit further now, and well, it's getting slightly repetitive. Thankfully, the difficulty has gone up a bit so I find certain areas actually challenging now. Also I <3 my Venausaur.
Unrelated, but apparently there are going to be 3 Mysterious Dungeon games on Wiiware.(They're the same game, but different versions.) I don't know what to think of this.

Pokemon Scramble Disappointing Fact #1: You can only get Pokemon from Generation 1 in your first playthrough. After you beat the game, you can get Generation 4 Pokemon. I don't think you can get ever get Pokemon from Generation 2 and 3, though.
