No, it was locked.
By the topic of this discussion, I was referring to the closing of a(nother, meaning, this) Spam Thread. Like the water cycle, this is one that has happened, will happen, for years to come.

Hmm, I really can not think of anything valuable to add to this discussion.

Either way I'm off if the thread has to close, sorry. I'm not a big fan of changes and I don't really see why we are tearing this Spam Lounge down only to have another one. What happened? did it break? is it sick? no matter how many Spam threads you can make it won't really stop the fact that it'll still take away topics from General Discussion, so what is the actual point of tearing it down if it's gonna happen again. Please, guys, just leave the thread alone and let it continue, cause tearing it down get's us nowhere but an extra thread for spam and still taking away threads, in fact, the Spam lounge saves us the space and time of making a thread. There are some things that do not deserve a thread like mindless brain warping or that good idea I had of making a Q & A Mew and Mewtwo or smily wars, they all have one thing in common: SPAM. it will always stay in the Spam lounge and never have it's own thread. The forum has lots of threads that only really need just one thread, the Spam lounge has been done several times, we don't need another one, so let the thread stay. I Seriously hope everyone gets what I said. Please don't say "Why so serious?". >_<

in fact, the Spam lounge saves us the space and time of making a thread. Thats why we want to lock it. So we can make threads that will only last a couple of days! I would love to make a joke thread but I cant. Why? The spam lounge is there. I would be told to just post it in the spam lounge. If I do it dosnt get the same impact cause someone would post 'lol look at my dog' and all intrest is lost. Also when I said 'joke thread' I dont mean a thread where I tell jokes.

I guess I have to say something too.
When the Spam Lounge was locked for the first time, I was one of those who wanted it to stay locked. However, after it was reopened, I grew to like it. I can say almost anything there and I don't have to be serious all the time, and I like that. The Spam Lounge makes me laugh and even though it is something annoying to log in and notice fifteen new pages, it has usually been worth it.
But I agree with Daveshn on some things. The Spam Lounge kills all smaller threads. The Nicknames thread, Sig & Avatar thread, all those YouTube threads... Because of Spam Lounge they've all been forgotten. People chat about video games in the Spam Lounge, which reduces the use of Gaming Discussion too. Sometimes people even have intelligent discussions in the Spam Lounge, which is exactly the opposite of the thread's meaning. And then the sheer size of that place! If it gets any bigger, no one will ever be able to read it through again, which is too bad, if a new member wants to get to know us (reading the Spam Lounge has given me a pretty good knowledge of most of you).
Panda, I'm sorry to hear that if the Spam Lounge gets locked, you'll leave. You're one of my best friends here and I really like you. But I have to think what's best for the Forums, so my vote is yes. Lock the Spam Lounge. I can survive without it, and I'm sure that all the others can too, even if you can't. Please reconsider. I'd be sorry to lose you because of something as stupid as this.

How about a trial? Lock for one week, keeping statistics throughout that week. If the forum seems to be doing better, keep it locked unless the need to reopen arises for some reason.
We cannot predict the future and make a decision based on that, but we can always monitor a present locked Spam Lounge and use that as a basis for judgment.

It should be tried again, just to see whether or not the closing of the Spam Lounge actually does improve the forum. I agree with Daveshn on some points but I am not sure about outright closing it.

Note: SJ the threads you mentioned being "replaced" by the Spam Lounge was because they were already dead, and no one wants to get yelled at for necroing.

That's my point; there are bound to be someone here who is just too lazy to make a thread. also I stand by my statement, i leave when the thread closes. I will revive the threads you stated in your posts SJ somehow if the thread stays up as the result.

I personally don't see any reason to keep it open as long as there will be a place for people to have fun and spam or whatever it is you kids do. It's curious to see any personal connection stemming from an internet forum and the fact you'd be able to pioneer another spam thread should be seen as an incentive. Repeating whatever was done the first time around in terms of the Spam Lounge is pointless because the locks will be for two different reasons. The first time, it was locked because of the spam worries and the Spam Lounge created excessive spam. Now, we're suggesting its lock to see what would happen. This decision isn't a judicial court case over a death sentence; it's whether we should close one particular thread or not. How much harm does it cause? Threads are closed on a regular basis. The decision of locking/not locking shouldn't be dragged out over a period of time - we need a verdict as soon as we can within reason.
Panda, I'm sorry to see you go if this goes through. I know we haven't always gotten along and you allegedly had some grudge against me, but I still thought you were a part of this community. Leaving because of one thread being locked is silly, as SJ pointed out. Pioneer another one. You might not like change, but change happens. Apparently, the votes will only accelerate this evolution.

The wiki is in progress, so yea no actual need to look through the spam lounge if there's an easy to acsess wiki. Then again, no one would care anyway for a member to drop off, it's happened several times in the P-X forum.

I still think Spam should get its own forum. Spam is random stuff not worth a formal discussion, and general has all the topics of mild-normal intellect.

Well, I suppose some kind of decision has to be made about this.
I will be closing the Spam Lounge.
Now before the few of you guys that want to keep it begin raging, hear this.
As of right now, there are 849 pages in the Spam Lounge topic. 15 posts consist of 1 page. I will not lock the Spam Lounge until it has reached 900 pages. This means you have more or less 750 posts remaining until I lock it. Those that claim the Spam Lounge is the only thing on the forum you find enjoyable, use this time to find SOMETHING ELSE. If you can't find something MAKE IT(and by it I do not mean another spam lounge). If even after this, you can't find a single thing on the forum worth staying for asides from a single topic, then I suppose you'll have to do what you have to do.
