You do have a point there. Usually when I'm using Outrage it's against a Dragon type or something that resists fire. Typically a good Outrage can kill an opponent in 2 rounds. I figure if I'm going to use Outrage it's best to commit to using it or use a different attack. Dragon moves might be powerful because there are few strong against it, but at the same time there are few weak against it too.

Doeasn't anybody have anything to say about MY team? Your team was pretty good except for Jolteon, everyone knows that all you need to beat that strategy is a halfway decent pokemon that has a recovery move. Overheat also, I'd replace w/Fire Blast. Meh... I like the Charizard combo I've been using for a while now Outrage (dragon type) Flamethrower (Fire) Metal Claw (Steel) Slash (normal) I'm sure there are better combos out there, but this one gets me through fights quite well. However, I tend to enjoy breeding moves as well so I don't know if that charmander ever had "normal" stats or Dragonite's stats. I'd replace Outrage w/Dragon Claw - Flamethrower w/either Heat Wave, Fire Blast, or Blast Burn - and Metal Claw w/Steal wing or Iorn tail. Unless this is for Gold/Silver in that case it's ok (except for Metal Claw). FIRE BLAST?! Do you have any idea how inaccurate that move is? I only use overheat because I rarely need blaziken for his fire-type attacks.... And yes, I know Jolteon's weakness, but I never really ran into pokemon like that in collesseum all too often besides an occasional ludicolo.....

FIRE BLAST?! Do you have any idea how inaccurate that move is? Yeah, it has 85% accuracy. Which is only 5% less than Overheat's.

Well he also has the option of Heat wave or fire blast which you didn't include in your quote. Also Blast burn has a better chance for a one hit KO. I don't like Fire Blast. It's too inaccurate, and you only get 5 PP for it. I've never actually encountered the move Heat Wave yet... *looks it up* Okay, so that's only 5 more points powerful than Flamethrower, is 10 points less accurate, and gets 5 less PP. Why would I want Heat Wave over Flamethrower? You said yourself that 10 points higher isn't much between Dragon Claw and Outrage, and 5 is even less than 10.

Because heat wave can hit two pokemon at once in double battles.

But that is a different tactic altogether right there. I typically plan for 1 on 1 fights as opposed to 2 on 2. I suppose I can flip through and see what I'd want for 2 on 2 battles, but in generalI haven't seen enough of that kind of combat to warrent setting up my pokemon like that. Now if Steven on Emerald challenges me to a 2 on 2 battle...I'll kinda be hosed...

Nice of you to tell me that now.
But since you just do one on one I suggest replacing metal claw w/sunny day. Metal claw is only 50 power. Your flamethrower (even without sunny day) will do more than that.

My bad, I suppose I just don't think about 2 on 2 much unless I have to. I'll fiddle around with Sunny Day then, it's not my normal tactic, but I'll try it, thanks.

Because heat wave can hit two pokemon at once in double battles. Well, anyone who tries to create a team that will work well in both single and double battles is going to have a hard time meeting that goal.

I try to build for double battles more than singles because doubles use more strategy so you have to be ready for more.
