POKEMON BLACK AND WHITE
Time to fix this OP up a bit.
Release dates:
Japan: September 18th 2010
North America: Spring 2011
Australia: N/A
Europe: Spring 2011
OUT NOW EVERYWHERE
-These are the trainers you can choose from. They're supposedly older than the previous playable characters. The boy's name is Black, the girl's is White. They are both available in both versions, as usual.
-Black and White introduces Triple Battles where your position in the lineup dictates who you can attack and the strength of your moves. Pokemon on the far right, for instance, can't hit Pokemon on the far left, and vice versa. The move of a Pokemon in the middle that hits all three opponents will be very strong.
There's an option in triple battles called "Move" which does just that and lets you switch your 'mon's positions. A new ability called Telepathy makes it so you wont hurt your team mates with your moves in triple battles. There's also a specific move that does this too.
*That new little black Pokemon in the middle is named Moguryuu, and it's a new Mole based Pokemon.
-During battles, you will see your Pokemon's full back sprite, rather than just the top half. Also, Pokemon now have a constant animation during battle, rather than only moving when they first come out.
-Using the item Dream Smoke that comes with a certain Pokemon unlocks the "Global Link" feature where you can upload your Black and White save to the internet. This allows you to access to a ton of features, including the "World of Dreams" where you can meet and capture Pokemon from other regions and then transfer them to your save, as well as play mini-games. Other than the World of Dreams feature, there will be a "Rating Mode" as well as a "Random Match" mode. Presumably the "Rating Mode" will act as a sort of online leader board, while "Random Match" is self explanatory. However, this being Nintendo and all, I wouldn't hold my breath for a true leader board or true random battles.
-The two versions of the game will each have an exclusive area not found in the other. White Forest in White and Black City in Black. Also, depending on which version you have, some areas will look different.
-You have two childhood friends who each get the two pokemon you don't pick at first, The guy's name is Cheren. He is very dependable and smart and provides you with info throughout the game. He wants to be League Champ. The girl is Bel. She's is spontaneous and unreliable, but will grow stronger throughout her journey.
It seems like if you picked the male, the female wont appear, and vice versa.
There is also a mysterious third rival named N who thinks of Pokemon as friends and believes Pokemon and humans shouldn't coexist. He will periodically challenge you to test his idea of justice.
-The professor for this region, Isshu which seems to be based on the U.S. (maybe specifically New York?), is female. Her name is Araragi.
Taken directly from Pokebeach:
- With the DS's infrared signal, you can have speedy battles with up to four players and speedy trades directly from your party or PC box. You can also automatically exchange friend codes over infrared now.
-A new feature called Passing By will allow your DS to connect automatically with other players that are nearby. As you advance in Black and White, you will be able to help others on their journey. It is part of the C Gear (the Pokegear/Poketch equivalent for Black and White).
-The games have a Live Caster feature (not for the old DS or DS Lite), which allows you to use the DSi's camera to talk to friends through video feed. Locally, you can talk to up to four people, while over Wi-Fi you can only talk to two. The Live Caster will have a pen and stamp tool so you can play with the pictures while using the video chat.
-Characters in the game will use the Live Caster feature to talk to you as well.
As for the actual pokemon:
These are the starters, but you knew that. Their names are Tsutaja, Pokabu, and Mijumaru, but we call them Smugleaf, Piglit, and Wotter respectively. They learn the moves Grass Mixer, Nitro Charge and Shell Blade respectively.
This is Mamepato. It's the pre-requisite early trash bird. It is Normal/Flying, and its abilities are Super Luck and Pigeon Heart which doesn't let its defense get lowered.
Here's your Ratata/Sentret/Zigzagoon/Bidoof, Minezumi. It's a Normal type and based on a Prairie Dog. Its abilities are Keen Eye and Run Away. It knows a move called You First which...makes the opponent hit first. Dorp.
Chiramii, the Pikachu/Pichu/Marril/Plusle+Minun/Pachirisu mascot of the game. It's a Normal type based on a Chinchilla and has Cute Charm and Technician as its abilities. It learns an attack called Sweep Slap that hits multiple times.
These are Gear. They're a Steel type and have an exclusive item. Their abilities are Plus or Minus. They learn a Steel move called Gear Saucer that hits multiple times.
This awesome motherfucker is Hihidaruma. He's a Fire type baboon based on a Daruma, and he has a new ability called Invigorate which raises the power of your attacks while nullifying their secondary abilities (like burning/poisoning).
This is Kibago. It's a Dragon type with the abilities Mold Breaker and Rivalry. It learns a new Dragon move called Double Chop that hits twice.
Koromori is a Psychic/Flying type Fruit Bat. Its abilities are Unaware and Klutz. It learns a new move called Heart Stamp which can cause the opponent to Flinch.
This is Meguroko. He's a Dark/Ground crocodile with the abilities Intimidate and Overconfident which raises his attack when he KOs a Pokemon (!!!)
Shimama is an Electric type zebra with Motor Drive and Lightning Rod as its abilities. It learns an Electric move called Wild Bolt which causes recoil damage. (Sort of like Volt Tackle?)
This is motherfucking WARGLE, a portmanteau of WAR+EAGLE. (All you patriots will love this) It is the VALOR POKEMON. It's a Normal/Flying type, and its abilities are Invigorate (like Hihidaruma) and Keen Eye. He WILL own. He knows a knew Flying move called Free Fall where he picks up his opponent and flies off screen for a turn, and then slams the opponent down the next turn. Awesome.
This is Rankurusu who is a cell-based Psychic type. It is exclusive to Pokemon White. Its abilities are Magic Guard (!!!) and a new one called Dust Proof which prevent damage from weather moves like Hail and Sandstorm.
Gochiruzeru is based on a Gothic Lolita and is also a Psychic type. It is exclusive to Pokemon Black. Its known ability is something new called "Frisk" not to be confused with Stantler and Banette's ability. It also learns a move called Magic Room which disables items for five turns.
This is Munna, a Psychic type Tapir Pokemon. Its abilities are Forewarn and Synchronize. It learns the move Telekinesiswhich makes your opponent float in the air. It evolves into...
Musharna, another pure Psychic pokemon. Same abilities as its Pre-evo. It comes with an item called Dream Smoke which unlocks your ability to upload your save file to the internet.
Zorua and Zoroark are Dark types, and their ability Illusion makes it so they transform into a pokemon in your party at the start of the battle and wont turn back until they take a certain amount of damage. Zoroark learns the moves Claw Sharpen which raises Attack and Accuracy and Night Burst which lowers the opponent's accuracy. Zorua learns a move called Trickery that attacks the opponent with their owns stats. Does this mean that while using this move, Zorua copies stat buffs or what?
These are the version mascots, Reshiram and Zekrom. Reshiram is a Fire/Dragon while Zekrom is an Electric/Dragon type. Reshiram is Black's mascot, and Zekrom White's. They are based on the concept of Yin and Yang.
There have been a few other pokemon revealed through battle sprites, but there's no official art or hard information on them..
Credit for this goes to Reinanigans from Something Awful. He wrote about 98% of it.
MORE POGYMANS
This is Victini, the third legendary to be revealed. Currently his type is unknown. Looks set to be the Mew of this generation. It's pokedex number is 000. It is the first non-glitch pokemon to use this number.
