So the 3DS is real... I'll buy it if the new games don't work for the regular DS

Actually, looking at how Black and White will be for the DS, and the DS seems to be the standard Nintendo handheld as the Gameboy was, I wouldn't be suprised if this was just an upgraded DSi, Like the XL.
Take the more attention to "3D" environments in HG and SS. The 3DS will likley just put crap in 3D Automatically, or you can toggle it off.

It was weird as hell trying to navigate the 3D Lighthouse Balcony. But it was cool. I liked how the 3D tower hid the Rare Candy

You seem to be forgetting that the DS wasn't intended to be the standard Nintendo handheld. It was originally going to be a side project but became so popular with both players and developers that it completely overtook the GBA. Also, the fact that the 3DS "has backwards compatibility" with the DS means that it does not usually play DS games which would also mean it plays a different kind of media which would presumably be "3DS games".

I think that was just Nintendo's cover story in case the DS bombed, a la Virtual Boy. They didn't call it the "Game Boy DS" or something because they didn't want to tarnish the Game Boy brand on a failed experiment. The experiment just succeeded beyond their wildest dreams was all.

I gotta agree with lurker. The fact that it was made to be back-compatible with GBA is a clear sign that they were just covering their as ses.

Res'd for a reason. God I am burying my LP right now. Annnnnndddd... Not too sure about the nub. That is unless the 3DS is laid out like a controller rather than a PSP.
