Pikachu can only be found in Safari Zone in Hoenn. For when Brendan lived in Johto: Pikachu only live in Route 2 in the wild, so I'm gonna say he saw one on a family vacation.

Calling it now: When Brendan, May and Wally finally encounter Rayquaza, it will be a shiny.
I like how Wally is completely failing to follow Brendan's advice. Tell yourself you're not looking for a Numel!

Poor Wally, the green pokemon are evading his grasp.

Wait, wait, what? Since when is Machop not green?

Since always? It's always been gray.
I see that Wally is using Gulpin again. Well, let's hope that he knows that it evolves into a non-green Pokémon and that he will have a way to prevent its evolution when it happens, because otherwise he will ditch a perfectly good Swalot.
And I agree with Wayf, why doesn't anyone ever remember wise Brendan's teachings?

Aww poo-y.
I missed the livestream. Darn it. It looks like a nice comic.

Hm... the Pokedex calls Machop "Gray", but I always saw him as green. Maybe grayish-green. I also see in-game Machoke as purple - the Pokedex calls him gray too.
The third-gen sprite for Machamp is pretty green too - not so much his other-gen non-shiny sprites though.
But there are quite a few Pokemon whose official color listings don't mesh for me. Some of it is due to differing cultural threshholds between colors - blue and green especially. The Pokedex calls Bronzor, Bronzong, Golett, and Golurk green, and I understand that the Japanese really do see them that way, but they look bluer to me. Some are due to the Pokemon changing color - Deerling is officially yellow, but the only yellow on Deerling's entire body is the flower on its head and a couple of spots; it's more pink/brown/orange/green, depending on the season. Some just seem to be colors I see as secondary: the Ralts family is officially white, but it's the green that stands out more to me. And some I just don't get at all: how is Lampent white?!

It's quite sad that Wally didn't catch either Koffing or Slugma, since they are Pokémon the gang doesn't own yet. If he had caught them, perhaps May and Brendan would have agreed to trade Cacnea and Trapinch for them.

We don't know if they did a trade for Cacnea yet. And Wally wouldn't want Trapinch anyway.

Yes he would if he knew what it evolves into.
But you're right, we don't know if there will be any trades in the flashback yet. Wally's only non-green Pokémon at the moment is Shedinja, so perhaps May could have traded her Cacnea for it.

Also, hahaha, Brendan's asleep.

Doubt it. It's not been enough time since the last shiny popped up for another to appear.

I'm going to agree with SJ. Chances are it's a shiny. That's why Brendan's so pissed.

You can do it, Rocky. Lead Wally to the Numel nest.
