Okay, I've managed to dig up some info from people who were at E3.
"Controller is EXTREMELY lightweight, a lot more than I was expecting! Was VERY impressed!" "It handles pretty well, I'd say it was uncomfortable if it were heavy, but it's not. Feels like holding a slab of paper, just with smoothed edges and hand grips!" "It uses rechargeable batteries and uses the same charger as DSi, DSiXL, and 3DS."
Sounds like the controller is fine.

I would think the main problem the controller would have would that it would be too big for the average user. The same problem the original Xbox controller had. It was just too big. It's not really the weight that is the problem.
The fact that it uses the same charger as the newer DSs is cool. It will save people from buying another controller charger. Hopefully it will come with a USB connection though. It would be annoying if you had to plug it into a socket.

Pure win, NMH is such a quality series. Though the Wii U looks terrible imo, it's not much of a step furthur, just handheld and console gaming being put together.

If you look at the hardware the WiiU has you'll see it's a big enough step forward. It has twice as much processing power as the PS3. Say what you want about the PS3, but you have to admit when a game is done right on it, it looks really good. The WiiU has the potential to take graphics that bit further.
I don't see where you are going with the whole handheld and console gaming being brought together. Do you mean the controller? I don't think that will ever be a stand alone console. It just has a visual output, exactly like the Dreamcast had. It won't be a handheld console. Just a controller for a console.

Oh no, I agree that the graphics and processing power will be enhanced, but it's only just surpassing the Xbox 360 and PS3, they're already around this level, on top of that being able to play DVD/Blu-ray.
As soon as they too bring out eigth generation consoles it's most likely going to be put to shame just like the wii.
I won't lie, when it comes to gameplay Nintendo always does best.
What I mean about the console and handheld part, well back for the seventh generation of console gaming, the 'new' feature was wireless controllers etc.
Now, it's merely the controller helping to work as a handheld game whenever the console cannot be used, not much of a step forward imo.
We'll have to wait and see.

I think that the controller will be used for pause menus, item selection or books/tips. I don't think they would put the actual game into a tiny screen in the controller. That would be stupid. With that said, I could see them putting minigames into the controller. For example, if there was a Bioshock game coming out I could see the hacking minigames being put into the screen on the controller.

The point of the controller is not to hold the full game but to be an accessory as cab said. It will only be used as a full game in rare cases like when someone else wants to watch TV in which the screen will change but you can't take the controller too far away (so not portable)

Good call, it will probs be for stuff like that, but if you look up on youtube, it actually can play the games on it, when someone else wants to watch TV, whether it's limited to how much you can play who knows.
Oh and .... Bioshock Infinite, just sayin.
