you'll probaly use a thunder pokemon.
gyarados is flying / water, so that would end it pretty quick.

With an electric pokémon it's easy, but on a 1-on-1 battle a well-aimed hyperbeam can finish pretty much anything that's not resistant, and what is, is taken care by the dragon or water moves =/

yeah, i agree with that.
but a exploud with shock wave...? they would both be lv 40, i think exploud would win, even without the shockwave, becuase it would have its own hyper beam then. ;]

Excepting for the tiny detail that Exploud can't learn Hyper Beam by itself, it has to be TM =P and Gyarados learns hyper beam at level 55

No exploud learns hyper beam when it evolves, or at least on emerald it does.

Gyarados's moveset should be: 1) Taunt to stop any haze, roar, toxic, thunder wave, or any status affliction that would cripple you. 2) Dragon Dance: 1 is enough to give you hgood power. 4 is good enough to sweep lots of pokemon on the opposing team depending on EVs and nature. 6 Is enough for complete pwnage. 3) Earthquake: 1-2 DDs and you'll outspeed most electric pokemon with a boosted-attack OHKO earthqauke. Boom, headshot. 4) Return: with 102 base power it is a slight lead over earthqauake in power, making it your primary attack. However, if you can do it, breeding for hidden power flying is better sp that gengar is killed by you also. Bonus: Intimidate along with decent defenses ought to give you lasting power to use a few DDs. Keep powering up 'til the last moment and kill everything after that. If you see an electric type before you've been able to get a speed boost, run like hell and switch to a ground type- dugtrio is best for arena trap- and be sure to eliminate it before sending out gyarados again.

That's a pathetic strategy that I will easily destroy once the 3rd version of Diamond and Pearl come out.

They'll eventually get into all the spectrum colours and then into different items...Pokemon until something better than it comes out will continue to be addicting and will never drop in popularity...most people will see it as a stupid fade but...just watch, it'll continue to grow...

I guess they'll have to use "Pokemon Brick and Pokemon Mortar Versions" in like the year 3000 or something.
