Nicknames

To prevent pointless off-topicness from any other threads, I decided to make a new thread where you can tell your pokémon's nicknames, and tell us why you've decided to name them so.

I usually name all my pokémon that I use regularly in either battles or contests. In my older games, like Yellow and Silver, I name every pokémon I catch, but recently in Ruby, Diamond and Emerald, I've named only the pokémon I use, not those who lie in Boxes without use.

Yellow:

Pikachu - Picasso
Reason: I think the name Picasso suits Pikachu, since they resemble each other so much.

Fearow - Depp
Reason: Spearow = Sparrow & Jack Sparrow = Johnny Depp

Venusaur - Igor
Reason: It's a hunchback. ;D

Gyarados - Wizard
Reason: Magikarp has the word "magic" in it.

Gengar - Hagarmo
Reason: A cool word I made up.

Rhydon - Grunnings
Reason: Harry Potter's Uncle Vernon owns a company named Grunnings that makes drills.

Silver:

For some reason, I have given every pokémon a first name and a surname in my Silver. Don't ask.

Feraligatr - Otto Water
Reason: Otto resembles the word "Toto" in Totodile. And Water is naturally Feraligatr's type.

Noctowl - Tim Nighty
Reason: Just some random name.

Quagsire - Will Diggy
Reason: Another random name.

Umbreon - Sam Shadow
Reason: Shadow suits Dark-type, don't you think?

Rapidash - Polly Pony
Reason: It's pretty obvious.

Espeon - Bart Hound
Reason: Bart resembles "bark", since despite what some people might say, Espeon is a dog and that explains the surname too.

Arbok - Abe Cobri
Reason: Abe is a cool name and Cobri is almost the same as "cobra".

Ruby:

My Ruby pokémon have the names of Roman gods, or famous people, or just some nice good names.

Swampert - Jupiter
Reason: The leader god.

Mightyena - Cerberus
Reason: It's a hellhound.

Breloom - Mars
Reason: Fighting-type deserves the name of the god of war.

Mawile - Monster
Reason: It is a monster!

Wailord - Neptune
Reason: The biggest Water-type pokémon = The god of the sea.

Medicham - Thor
Reason: I'm not sure, but I like it.

Swellow - Mercury
Reason: I think the name fits a flying pokémon.

Then there's Linda (Linoone), Grace (Grumpig), Edison (Minun), Odin (Gardevoir), Toxena (Weezing), Spirit (Glalie), Minerva (Kadabra), Victoria (Salamence), Adonis (Milotic), Aisha (Ninetales), Buddha (Crobat), Vulcan (Armaldo), Pluto (Absol), Muhammad (Camerupt) and Venus (Roselia).

Diamond:

Empoleon - Emilee
Reason: Both begin with "Em".

Staraptor - Stella
Reason: Stella means "star" in some language.

Lopunny - Bonnie
Reason: Bonnie = Bunny.

Lumineon - Lumi
Reason: Lumi is a Finnish woman's name that means "snow". Althought Lumineon has nothing to do with snow, the name suits the word Lumineon.

Lucario - Luke
Reason: I like Lucky Luke.

Weavile - Skyler
Reason: No reason. It's a cool name.

Red/Blue/Yellow:

Charizard-Demonboy
Reason: I like to draw a teenage boy infused with the power and appearance of a fire demon(kind of a cross between HellBoy and Nightcrawler from X-Men).

Blastoise-Mana
Reason: I draw a total of 7 different demons each wielding the power of an element, with Mana being an ice demon

Hitmonchan-Jango
Reason: Jango is the demon of Earth that I draw

Haunter-Scary
Reason: I don't need a reason for this one

Pidgeot/Scyther-Hakura
Reason: My demon of the wind, and the weilder of 2 katana blades(Scyther)

Pikachu-St. Jimmy
Reason: I like the Green Day song and my dad calls me St. Jimmy(my name is James)

Gold:

Typhlosion-Demonboy
Reason: I name all my fire starters Demonboy(except Blaziken)

Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald:

Absol-Demonboy, because my character uses a scythe like Absol's
Breloom-Janjo
Zangoose-Hakura
Swampert-Mana
Raichu-Zando, the demon of lightning
Sabeleye-Shadow Jack, the demon of darkness
Ninjask-Koga, the demon of sound, and it's got the word ninja in the name
Rayquaza-Slifer, the sky dragon

Diamond:

Infernape-Demonboy
Weavile-Slasher, because that's what he does
Azelf-James, because it is the being of willpower

I don't nickname but in my younger years everything ended in y
Piky, squirty and so on. I found one that I named AAAAAAAA.

Heh... When I was a kid, I named my pokémon something like "AAAAAAAAAA" too. But I've grown up since.

I've named also the pokémon babies in my Ruby. Those who are children of the pokémon I use, to be precise.

There's Lyra (Azurill), Hektor (Psyduck), Vesta (Vulpix), Iris (Vulpix), Capella (Vulpix), Newton (Roselia), Carina (Corsola), Indi (Igglybuff), Mimosa (Skitty), Flora (Cacnea), Apollo (Abra), Orion (Abra), Dalai Lama (Skarmory), Mannerheim (Zigzagoon) and Speedy (Spoink).
